Vance Houston, Kevin Wideman and Luke Eggers All Post Final Wins for 2011 at Dollars Day "Race for Free""
What a way to end the 2011 racing season at Farmington Dragway with another blessed day of weather on Sunday to finish off Day 2 of the Annual Dollars Day and Race for FREE. Taking final race victories fro 2011 at Farmington out of 150 entries was Vance Houston in TOP Eliminator, Kevin Wideman in FOOT Brake and Luke Eggers in JUNIOR Dragster.
Houston of Newland/Spruce Pine. NC ran a near perfect 4.662 ET on a 4.62 dial-in at 146 MPH in his Houston Transportation Dragster to beat out the too quick 6.07 ET off a 6.11 dial-in at 113 MPH of Jefferson, NC’s TimBo Blevins in his wrblevinsplumbing.com Chevrolet Chevelle. Marty Wright of Swannanoa, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his Hipp Stone Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
The “Hired Gun” Kevin Wideman of Mooresville, NC scored a big Farm Foot Brake victory driving the Gibbs Race Cars & Performance Parts Chevrolet Nova to the win out of the one hundred plus no electronics entries. Levi Stanley, Jr, Kelly Stevens and Hannah Blevins Capture Race of Champions Wins
Great weather greeted the annual Dollars Day 2011 and the annual Race of Champions. Taking home the class champions was Levi Stanley, Jr. in TOP Eliminator, Kelly Stevens in FOOT Brake and Hannah Blevins in JUNIOR Dragster. Stanley, Jr. out of Whisnett, NC driving his dad’s Chevrolet Camaro used a better reaction time to defeat the newly crowned BIG 5 second champion Durant Cottingham of Thomasville, NC in his Undercover Dragster. Stanley, winner earlier this in his Dragster, ran a 5.74 ET at 120 MPH to hold over Cottingham’s 4.77 ET at 145 MPH by .015 at the stripe. Jimmy Collins of Walkertown, NC and Bobby Williams of Winston-Salem, NC were semi-finalist.
Kelly Stevens of Hickory, NC driving Eric Shoemaker’s Black Oak Design Pontiac picked up the Foot Brake ROC by .011ths over David Spaugh from Thomasville, NC driving David Greene’s Chevrolet Nova. The former D-9 IHRA Mod Champion Stevens ran a 6.78 ET on a 6.78 dial-in at 95 MPH to stop the 7.02 ET off a 6.99 dial-in of the former two time Farm Champion Spaugh.
